Answer: The white heart on the blue shield is part of the crest from Werner’s hometown in Germany, Wiesental, which recently celebrated its 700th anniversary. It emblazons our bins and tractors, and without our trying, has become our logo. The heart represents our guiding principles of social and environmental responsibility.
Answer: Our wines are available for sale at our tasting room and here on our website.
Our Tasting Room is open April through December, Friday through Sunday, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Tasting fees are nominal, and purchased wine can be enjoyed outside on the verandah overlooking the vineyard in the valley below. It’s a gorgeous view!
Wines are available for purchase through the website year-round, although we do not recommend shipping wine during the hottest months of the year.
A couple of our wines are also available for sale at Rebecca's Natural Foods in Charlottesville, Basic Necessities in Nellysford, and Friendly CIty Food Coop in Harrisonburg.
Short Answer: They will be.
Long Answer: For the wine to be certified organic, both the grapes AND THE WINERY have to be certified separately. Our vineyard was certified-organic before our first harvest in 2012. The winery was certified-organic before the 2016 harvest, so the 2016 vintage wines are labeled “Made with Organic Grapes.” Unfortunately, we cannot retroactively certify the wines made before 2016. It should be noted that all wines we've ever made have adhered to the USDA regulations governing organic winemaking and all faithfully represent the style, quality, and integrity of our operation. From this point going forward, all wines made at Loving Cup should be labeled as organic.
Answer: Yes, of course. We do not serve food, so we encourage you to bring snacks and such. Just please clean up after yourselves, and no outside alcohol (a violation of our ABC license).
